Conservatives say ill councillor “just gave up”.

By antonyhook

The self-described “nasty party” have not gone away.

In Dover, an Independent councillor has stepped down. In the resulting by-election, the Conservative candidate, Mandie Shembi, has said “he gave up and moved to Maidstone. Mandie will never give up”. She didn’t mention that the poor man is seriously ill and moved to be nearer to facilities for his condition.

Since the weekend, the Conservative has started campaigning under the somewhat uninspiring slogan “Are You Stupid?”

At the same time, the Conservatives are putting out a dishonest leaflet designed to look as though it is from Labour.

Interesting juxtaposition.

Is this the dirtiest Town Council campaign ever?

The Liberal Democrat candidate is journalist Dean Stiles who has been campaigning for effective action on crime.

UPDATE: Mandie Shembi appears to have said that people who own more than one home, like Conservative Charlie Elphicke and several local Conservative councillors are unfit to represent local people.

FURTHER UPDATE: The Conservatives have linked here and suggested this article expresses an attitude about the result election.

As this article was written 4 days before the result (see the date stamp a bit further down the page) that is not really possible.  You just can’t trust a thing they say…
